Introducing our new Rackets Academy League Co-ordinator, Nicola Keeling…

Hi! I’m Nicola Keeling and have played tennis at Rackets for coming up 3 years.  I have played tennis for many more years in the U.K. (too many I’d admit to) and have run ladies teams, tournaments and social events at my previous club.

This season Rackets decided to mix the format up a bit for the A League focussing on individual scores. The idea is to give competitive tennis but make it social and fun too!  The tournament will be held once a month over the next four months. We are planning each tournament to be held at Motor City, so it’s a great way for everyone to play competively at one venue in a fun yet safe environment!

Sean and Luca will be helping me so you can contact any of us with any questions. I will be updating the social media too so any fun photos please send through to me from all leagues! I’ll also be communicating with the captains and coaches of the B and C Leagues and updating the scores! So again, please send through your stylish sunny photos and anything newsworthy! Hope you all have a great season and I’ll be in touch with updates and future events ?

There so many aspects to tennis, you can always learn something new at every level both as a player and a coach. It’s a game

of pure class.

3. How did you get into tennis?

I attended an after school tennis session and loved it, and it became a passion.

4. When did you start playing tennis?

I started playing tennis at 11years old and have been playing for 22 years.

5. List 3 things you like about Rackets Academy

  1. Always bringing in new clients and characters, allowing me to adapt my coaching
  2. Many different venues to coach and play
  3. Being part of a growing team

Rule of the Week

If you have a ball on your side of the court and it gets hit by another one during play, you can still play the point, as long as you hit the same ball that was in play, before the second bounce.

Coach Moros’s Tip of the Week: Aim the Ball

“Most intermediate adults forget to aim the ball with their free hand while hitting a forehand. Aiming the ball helps not just by positioning your body correctly but also helps keeping an adequate distance between you and the ball.. …Good luck!“
