Interview with Coach Moro
This week’s interview is with Rackets Academy Coach, Moro Bogdan.
1. Who is your favourite professional player?
I grew up enjoying Marat Safin and Roger Federer. From the women’s tour, it’s hard to choose as it’s so entertaining these days…but since I’m Romanian, I might as well stick to my roots and say Simona Halep.
2. Why do you love tennis?
I’ve been playing tennis and revolving around the tennis world since I was 6 years old, so it’s what I’ve done my whole life. It’s passion, it’s love, it’s hate and even now, in any lesson I do, I still find things to learn from. That’s why I love it!
3. How did you get into tennis?
I remember I was in my last year of kindergarten and a tennis coach came and showed us some tennis balls and rackets. I went home and told my parents I want to play tennis. With my father himself being a tennis coach, he couldn’t have been happier (despite the fact I never wanted to train with him!)
4. When did you start playing tennis?
Quarter-century would sound accurate 🙂
5. List 3 things you like about Rackets Academy
It’s hard to choose only 3 but I’ll try…
- I like the team most of all, because without the team behind, all the coaches, the staff, it wouldn’t be as fun and enjoyable as it is without the backbone of Rackets!
- I like the idea and philosophy behind Rackets, the dedication to the elite programs and all the efforts to create one of the best performance clubs in the Middle East!
- Last, but definitely not least, the opportunity to be able to work in some of the most amazing venues with the most amazing people!
Rule of the Week
Remember, progress is made in the discomfort zone, so push yourself, move out of your comfort zone to get to the next level.
Coach Petar’s Tip of the Week
“In my teaching concept, I’m always trying to pass on advice to my students regarding vision. Mostly we will hear coaches on the court “watch the ball” but there is a wider concept then just watching a ball. In the same moment which are milli-seconds while the ball is flying from your opponent’s racket, we are trying to be aware of 3 things regarding our vision. These are; 1. Ball, 2. Target- where we want to hit, 3. Opponent. We always try to brush our peripheral vision and our perception on court…Good luck!“
