Our smart new tents by reception have arrived at the club in Motor City. Perfect for players and spectators to take a break from the sun… or more recently… the rain!!!
Results from Mixed Doubles Tournament
Well done to everyone who took part in our Mixed Doubles Tournament last weekend. Congratulations to our champions Anna Czaplicka and Thiery Goor who beat Devi Torrin and Akbar Khan 6-4 in the final!
Rackets Academy Elite Training Day at Sofitel Hotel
Our elite players had a great training day at Sofitel Hotel, The Palm last Friday. These young athletes showed great dedication as they took part in a day of match practice against one another. Well done to you all!

Rule of the Week
To win the set a player must win 6 games by 2 or more. The opening sets will go to a tie break if it ends up 6-6, where players will play first to 7 points. The final set will not have a tie break and requires players to win by two games with no limit.
Coach Sam’s Tip of the Week: Improving your forehand
“The follow-through starts as soon as the tennis ball has left your racket. Make sure that the tennis racket handle is high on the left side, or right side of you if you are left handed, with the butt of the tennis racket facing your opponent. As you hit the ball turn your forearm over as though checking your watch whilst bringing the tennis racket across your body in one fluid, smooth movement. Continue this movement and rotate your upper body, this allows you to decelerate both yourself and the tennis racket smoothly. Good luck!“

Congratulations to Margaret Dean who is our Larte Ladies League Player of the Week for week 2. Margaret wins a brunch for two at Larte Restaurant in Studio City. She was voted for Player of the Week by the coaches for her fantastic performance in her league match last week with partner Izabela Sobczak. Our Baseliners ladies fought hard, narrowly missing out on winning their match against Full Metal Rackets by just two points in the super tie break. Well done Margaret!
