Interview with Coach Sarah
This week’s interview is with the lovely Coach Sarah.
1. Who is your favourite professional player?
Roger Federer!!!
2. Why do you love tennis?
I step onto the court and I feel like I’m in different world, one that is just full of excitement. Hitting balls, running around and just bringing out this one amazing shot is something that can only be done on a tennis court. It feels AMAZING!
3. How did you get into tennis?
My dad was a professional tennis player, back then a professional tennis coach as well. My mum too was a tennis player herself. In my blood, I guess:) Practically born on a tennis court!
4. When did you start playing tennis?
I’ve been playing tennis for 29 years.
5. List 3 things you like about Rackets Academy
- Happy and supportive team spirit
- A cheerful work environment
- Some fun fellow coaches that absolutely drive me crazy:) (Jordan!)
Rule of the Week
If a player touches the net, distracts his opponent or impedes in anyway then they automatically lose the point.
Coach Kirk’s Tip of the Week: Focus on Footwork
“Usually when people miss a shot, they believe a deficiency in their stroke technique is to blame. However, the number one cause of missed shots is when a player is out of position. I could have the worst mechanics in the world, but if I’m in perfect position for every shot, I will make more balls than the guy who is lunging to get a racquet on the ball.
When out of position, a player will be off balance, unable to hit the shot in the strike zone, cannot take a full swing, and loses control of the shot…Good luck!“
