Rackets Academy Junior Programme is avaiable now!

Keep your kids active and healthy as the temperature rises, with Rackets Academy. We are delighted to offer our full indoor junior courses throughout the summer months at our Madinat Arena venue.  We have 3 tennis courts, 2 padel courts (opening June 10th) plus a Mini-Red and Orange court.

There are three stages of Mini Tennis; Red, Orange and Green – each with their own court size and ball-type. This tailored approach enables players to develop vital skills and master technique at an early age. These are the first steps onto the Rackets Academy Elite Programme. Featuring shorter courts, lower nets, smaller rackets and soft low-bouncing balls, Mini-Tennis provides the perfect introduction to tennis for young children.

  • Mini Red –  4-8 years
  • Orange – 8-10 years
  • Green – 10-11 years

Interview with Coach Dean

This week’s interview is with Rackets Academy Coach, Dean Hamilton.

1. Who is your favourite professional player?

My favourite tennis player is Federer; anyone who tries to deny that he’s the best of all time, is crazy;) My favourite to watch is Nick Kyrgios.

2. Why do you love tennis?

I love tennis as it has always been a sport I have enjoyed with friends, family and most of all being able to travel and experience new places, just like Dubai. Plus the new people you meet on the journey.

3. How did you get into tennis?

I found tennis as a hobby when I was younger and have grown up with it in my life since I was 7, it always gives me pleasure to see people improve and grow, especially the younger generation. Tennis is a game for life.

4. When did you start playing tennis?

I began playing tennis when I was 7 years old.

5. List 3 things you like about Rackets Academy

  1. The epic team we have working together to improve tennis in Dubai.
  2. The importance of developing each day.
  3. The class of team,  there is always someone to ask about a player who needs help to develop, from Mini tennis to Elite tennis.

Rule of the Week

If a player touches the net, distracts his opponent or impedes in anyway then they automatically lose the point. The ball can hit any part of the line for the point to be called in; outside the line and the ball is out.

Coach Sam’s Tip of the Week: Hit and Recover

“So many players will hit a ball, watch the ball and then compliment themselves on the shot. This is not good. It is imperative that you hit and recover on every shot so that you’re ready for the next…Good luck!“
