We are delighted to introduce you to our new coach, Raduan Sanchez. Raduan, who is from Tenerife, and a National Tennis coach by the Spanish Federation, started coaching more than 15 years ago, at the age of 20. He coached in some of the best clubs in Tenerife, until he moved to India to coordinate a Project at the Rafa Nadal Foundation, with more than 200 players and 5 tennis coaches.

In 2016 he joined the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, being one of the first coaches there. He coached from U12 to U18 players and travelled with them around the globe playing Tennis Europe, ITF and Futures. He also gave clinics alongside world recognized coaches like Toni Nadal, Marc Gorriz and Joel Figueras in some of the best venues in Miami, Colombia and in ATP tournaments in Europe.

In 2019 he moved to Kuwait to open the second academy of Rafa in the world. Now, Raduan joins Rackets Academy ready to share the knowledge and experience of working all these years with some of the best professionals of Spain.

Interview with Coach Fuad…

This week’s interview is with Rackets Academy Coach, Fuad Quadre .

1. Who is your favourite professional player?

My favourite professional player is Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

2. Why do you love tennis?

It is a sport you can player forever, you don’t need to gather a lot of people or equipment to play, you just need a racket, ball and one other person.

3. How did you get into tennis?

My dad had a sports shop at the tennis club so I had full access to the court every time I was there; which was mostly everyday.

4. When did you start playing tennis?

Started playing when I was 6yrs old. Stopped briefly in college, when I was trying to change career. But I’ve been playing ever since.

5. List 3 things you like about Rackets Academy

  1. Rackets academy has always made coaches’ and clients’ welfare a priority. Always looking for ways to grow and improve its service to clients.
  2. At Rackets Academy your kids are assured of a fun filled, educational, social and safe environment.
  3. Rackets Academy aims to bring tennis lessons to a location close to you. Our newest location is closer to you than you think!!!!

Rule of the Week

Players/teams cannot touch the net or posts or cross onto the opponent’s side.

Coach Sean’s Tip of the Week: In tennis you want to be prepared to hit the ball

“One way of doing this is getting your racket back as soon as your opponent hits the ball.

This way you will be able to get the power you need and will have one less thing to think about when returning a hit.

If you start immediately getting your racket back it will become a habit and you will be more prepared for each point without even trying…Good luck!“

Mrs Miyagi’s Ladies League: Season 7 – W/c 11th April

Our A League ladies took to the courts last week for their monthly tournament. Congratulations to Andrea Britchford for winning the league this month by a whopping 8 points! Andrea, who only dropped one point throughout the tournament and played consistently at a high level, wins a Mr Miyagis brunch for two at Studio One Hotel. It was a fun morning of awesome ladies doubles; amazing rallies, clever tactical play, hard accurate serving and impressive volleys!  Well done to Rachael Robinson for 2nd place and JoJo Shuman for 3rd place.
