Friday 27th September, 5pm – Orange Ball Tournament – Rackets Academy, Motor City

Rule of the Week: A miss serve

If the server swings but misses the ball it is a fault. However, if a server releases the ball but does not attempt to hit it, there is no fault and the server may repeat the service attempt. If the ball hits the opponent’s racket or body or any object other than the net cord before bouncing, it is a fault.

Coach Fuad’s Tip of the Week: Poaching in doubles

“ Don’t be fooled into thinking that when you poach it is to win just that point…it’s to win more points in the future due to the missed returns that are sure to come even if you don’t ever go again! In Doubles, try to poach early on in the match so that your opponents will be looking up from that point forward when they are returning! Try to start poaching from the first game your partner serves.

A number of partners will think you are trying to take their ball (sometimes this is hard to explain but you must try) as opposed to understanding that you are steering future shots to them at the net!

WHEN YOU POACH – COMMIT – KEEP GOING – AND JUST WATCH THE BALL! Good luck!”
