Laurits reaches finals in U10 School Circuits

Congratulations to Rackets Academy’s Performance Player, Laurits Ostergaard who made the finals in his U10 School Circuit this week. Well done Laurits on another fantastic performance throughout the tournament.

Rule of the Week

When volleying, you can always follow through beyond the net, without any contact with the net. However, the ball has to pass over the net to your side before you hit a volley or a smash!

Coach Sarah’s Tip of the Week: Ball Trajectory

“The trajectory of your ball says a lot about the way you’re hitting a ball. I’ll explain the swing in 4 steps; 1. Position, 2. Preparation, 3. Timing, 4. Follow through.

These steps are a chain. If any of the steps are not done well, it affects your overall shot.

If you don’t reach well, it will effect step 2, 3 and 4. If you reached well but your preparation wasn’t all there, your shot wouldn’t go through well. If you get step 1 and 2 right but hit the ball either too early or too late, same thing. And finally if step 1, 2 and 3 are intact and your follow through wasn’t complete, you’ll miss a great shot.

So players need to be fully aware of how they are getting ready to hit a shot. In case of a miss, self-correction is easier knowing which of these steps was the root cause of it. Good luck!“
