Weekly Newsletter – 13th December 2018

Dear Member,

That’s a wrap… as the term draws to a close and we begin the festive period, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Find out this week’s Players of the Week and how the coaches got on in the Christmas Coach Playoff event that Rackets Academy hosted for our ladies league members last week. We have results from the Rackets Academy Mid-Term Championship final, details of a new school ECA sign up and a Tip of the Week from Coach Sarah. This week we say a sad farewell to the Junker family who are heading back home to the US. Rafe, Ayda & Tacy – we will miss you. All the best for the future, Team Junker, and keep up the tennis!

Players of the Week

Congratulations to our Players of the Week, Coach Sarah and Coach Mariano. Sarah & Mariano receive this award for winning the coaches festive doubles playoff last week in the finals against Coach George and Coach Kris. Well done guys!

Rackets Ladies and Coaches Jingle & Mingle

Last week Rackets Academy hosted a Jingle & Mingle event for the Rackets ladies league members, where they sipped cranberry punch and ate mince pies whilst watching the coaches take part in a Christmas Coach Playoff. It was a fun morning with lots of laughs….mainly at the coaches, who had been given an outfit to wear chosen by their team 🙂

Coach Sarah’s Tip of the Week: The Stability

“The physical aspect; footwork one of them, never stops during practice, rally or match play. It should be an ongoing part of the game. In tennis, when a ball is being hit to you, step one is reaching to the ball. Step two is hitting the ball. Without step one, step two doesn’t have a chance for a good shot! In between step one and step two, the stability comes in. The good position needs to be taken so the stability could follow.

In order to hit a perfect shot and get the swing’s trajectory right for your shot or tactics, stability with the right position is the foundation for the shot! Give a focus to reach well, stop (with a good position) and hit in your next rally to witness an ongoing consistency to your game! Good luck!”
