I grew up in the UK where playing tennis again meant summer.

I’d always had fun hitting a ball around with friends and family, but I didn’t get in to tennis until I moved to Dubai.

Regularly – 3 or 4 years.

6. List 3 things you like about Rackets Academy

  1. 1. Jordan’s Bulldogs

  4. …Did I mention Bulldogs??

Rule of the Week

During the point, if a ball from another court comes on to your court, you should replay the point if distracted. Not strictly a rule but etiquette to replay.

Coach Jordan’s Tip of the Week: Fake to confuse your opponent

“When playing the net, either on the serving side or return side, you should constantly be on your toes. This gives the appearance of being able to move for any shot and intimidates the returner. On approximately half the shots the returner hits (depends how good a shot they have at the ball) you should fake like you are going to poach. This can be done with a little jab step or turning of your shoulders. The fake is a great play that not enough club players make. It can result in many errors from your opponents. Fakes cast doubt in the mind of the returner and narrow the court for him or her. When a good fake is made, it’s not uncommon for the returner to make an unforced error, trying to hit too good a shot. If you mix in random poaches, this will really leave your opponent guessing what you’ll do next. Try them out for size the next time you’re at the net…Good luck!“
