Interview with No Strings Attached player Maria Sierra

1. Who is your favourite professional player (male & female)?

Well, I have to say that I am so new in the tennis world, so as far as know , I like Federer and Rafael Nadal. But it might be they are now old fashioned and there are new players but I dont know as I dont follow up TV games or tournaments.☺️

2. Who is your favourite RA coach?

I just joined recently to RA and I only have experience of trainning with Jordi, so far, I had been enjoying his lessons and he is helping me in the technique a lot.  Also, I am trying to get private lessons with Raduan/Lucas or Jordi but it seems they are so busy?

Hopefully next year!

3. Why do you love tennis?

It is a sport that requires many skills/strenghts: technical, tactical, physical condition too… and mental focus. So for me it is an amazing sport who can keep anyone in a steady and great shape/figure. Beside of that, as well it is an opportunity to socialize: to meet new people, to get new friends.. and to have fun

4. How did you get into tennis?

Oh, it was in March of this year.. I have a tennis court where I live and during covid I was feeling so lonely then I decided that I wanted to learn tennis to meet people and the same time to do sport, then came three players to my court: Miguel, Fairuz and Kanayar, then they started to teach me every week.. then from April until June I had played every day , in July I went on holidays and I decided that I wanted to join a doubles league team and that was when I heard from friends that Rackets Academy run a very well organized ladies league. I did a trial in Sept and I joined it.

5. How long have you been playing tennis for?

Well, I started in March 15th of 2021, I had played until June and in july I played for two weeks in Europe, I continued again playing in Sept when I joined to RA

6. List 3 things you like about Rackets Academy.

I have to say I am in love with all, I always count the days until the next Monday training. I love Atlantis courts, I love my team, I love my coach, I love the assistants of RA, I am in love with tennis.. and certainly I am learning a lot and I do hope to improve my technique with the aim to be able to play better and better all the time

Thanks for this interview!

See u on the court

Tip of the Week

Positive thinking

You should never think about the loss when gong on court. You have to always believe in the win no matter who the opponent is. Even if you play against a better skilled player, you have to think positively.

There are a lot of stories in history about how the underdog beat the favourite. The only scenario you should project in your mind before a game is the winning one. You should prepare your tactics to win, not to lose. And you have to stay positive no matter what happens during a match. Negativity never brings a positive result.

Rule of the week

If a ball touches a permanent fixture after it has hit the correct court, the player who hit the ball wins the point. If the ball in play touches a permanent fixture before it hits the ground, the player who hit the ball loses the point

***Competition!***

Closes 18th November
