Let’s welcome March picking it up where we left off last week! Was anyone else surprised with Djokovic’s lost at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship? We indeed were not expecting it. In any case it was amazing having all these amazing tennis players playing in Dubai for the past two weeks.
Padel Tennis

Travel Tour
Our players have not left for the Ten Pro in Mallorca yet and our coaches are already planning the next trip to the Ten Pro Global Tournament in the Netherlands. If you did not get the chance to sign up for the tournaments at the Rafa Nadal Academy stay tuned because the Dutch Bowl is coming up from the 15th to the 22nd of May.
Everything is set for the players who signed up for the Ten Pro Global Tournament at Mallorca. Coach Alejandro and the players Larissa Brasil, Federica Barbieri, Idhant Kastwar and Enzo El Kahi will jump on a plane on March 12th to Spain to compete at the Ten Pro that the Rafa Nadal Academy hosts.
The Elite squad will also be travelling in March. The players will be competing at the ITF Tournaments that take place in Cyprus, a J4 in Larnaca from the 8th – 12th of March and J3 in Limassol from the 14th to the 19th of March. Both tournaments are played on hard court. Stay tuned to follow our Rackets players in their journey throughout the tournament.
Rackets Academy had one spot available to get an invitation for the 7-star tennis international tournament that is coming up in Mid-April. We are happy to announce that the player Timur Gordeev, has been selected among the best 24 tennis players U12 in the world to participate at the IMG Future Stars Invitational Tournament that will take place at Tatoi Club in Athens.
Interview of the Week – Get to know Timur Gordeev
Where are you from?
I was born in Moscow, Russia. When I was 6 months I came to Dubai.
When did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old
What do you like the most about being a tennis player?
I like everything about tennis, to play tennis, to watch tennis, to travel to tournaments
When did you start playing tournaments?
I played an orange ball tournament, when I was 8.
Best memory related to tennis
I have fond memories of my visits to the Wimbledon and Monte Carlo Rolex and of course my first Tennis Europe final in Split, Croatia.
What do you think of Rackets Academy?
The Rackets Academy is the best academy. And I respect their involvement in tennis, as well as their desire to develop young tennis players.
So far what do you enjoy the most about training at Rackets Academy?
I enjoy practicing with my friends here in the squad. We had fun time.

How are you preparing for one of the biggest U12 tennis tournaments in the world?
To be better prepared, I will train more than usual.

Tournaments
Registration ends today for the Men’s Singles 4k Tournament that takes place this weekend Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th. The format is singles knock out, best of three sets (3rd set super tie break) and there is a prize money of 4.000drh. The matches will take place at the venues of Motor City and Atlantis.
Registration ends today for the UTR Round Robin Format U14 Boys and Girls Tournament! Takes place this Saturday at Motor City and Sunday at Sofitel the Palm. The new Round Robin format guarantees a minimum of three matches per player, best of three sets (3rd set super tie break) matches. Group stage will be played on Saturday and semi-final and final on Sunday.
We are excited to announce that we have another Ten Pro Global Tournament Dubai Bowl scheduled for next October half term. It was great having players from all over the world at Rackets Academy for the Ten Pro Tournament this past month and we cannot wait to host it again next upcoming October.
We are ready to host another UTR Pro Tennis Tour event. Starting in late March we are hosting at Atlantis two women’s PTT $25K+H events. It will be the first women’s PTT tournament to offer free hospitality to players. Last month, Rackets Academy hosted two men’s PTT events, which were the first UTR tournaments that were held in the Middle East.
The Expo Cup Tournament was a success. The tournament ended on Saturday with Omar and Yassine raising the champions trophy. Also, big congratulations to the runner ups of the tournament Ralph and Andrej and to Raed and Rahil for getting the third place.
Zach Stephens
We have had this week training at Rackets Academy, Zach Stephens. Zach is a tennis player from Great Britain, his highest ITF Junior ranking is 282. He is at Rackets Academy this week training with our Elite Squad getting ready for the G1 ITF Junior that is coming up in Thailand. Good Luck Zack!
