Dear Members,

Welcome back to a new term! We hope you had a good break and are back full of energy to play some tennis. We have some exciting news coming up in Rackets Academy and also will update you on everything that happened over the break, so keep reading.

Rackets Academy Spring Championship

Over the two weeks of break, we hosted the Rackets Academy Spring Championship in Motor City. On week 1 the categories of men’s singles and boys and girls U10, U12, U14 and U16 were played. In the category of men’s singles the winner was Nickels who beat Café in the final. U12 Girls Xinru Zhong beat our player Petra Hanzel in the final in close match that was decided in the final super tie-break. In the U10 category the winner was Hadi Ksouri who beat Yahia Karkouri in a double 4-0. U12 boys’ final was also very close but Rahil Rizvie got the win against the runner up Leon Wojciechowski. Rizvie also got the win in the boys U14 beating Ernest Yakubovsky in the final in a very tight three setter match. The U14 girls champion was Kenza Ksouri whoc beat Alisa Afanaseva in a three-set match 4-6, 7-6, 10-5.

The second week was also very busy playing three different categories. The women’s singles champion was Jana Vahalikova who beat Melanie Beck in a double 6-3 Mohammed Tarik Kouba beat Russel Midlgey in the Mens +35 Singles Category and to finish the week the Men’s Singles Champion eas Egor Khotchenkoc who beat Andrea Brocas in three sets.

PTT Women’s $25k UTR

We had two busy weeks also in Atlantis with the PTT Women’s $25k UTR Tournament. This UTR is Pro Tennis Event was the first women’s PTT tournament to offer free hospitality to players. The tournament was a success as many players from different nationalities came to play the tournament. The winner of the first tournament was Marie Benoit from Belgium who beat Dalila Jakupovic in the final by 6/0, 5/7, 6/2. The second week Dalila Jakupovic raised the champion’s trophy after beating the Russian player Anastasia Zolotarevia in the final in a double 7/5.

Fitness First Camps at Lakes

We beat the records at Rackets Academy by having for the first time 50 kids sign up at our Camp at Fitness First in Lakes. It was so much fun to watch all the kids enjoy the different activities that they took part of from the camp.

Tournaments

We have more UTR tournaments coming up at Rackets Academy in the next few months. Starting May 7th we have a UTR Men’s Singles tournament, with a knock out format, best of three sets and third set super tie break. It will be played in Motor City and Atlantis over the weekend.

In May 21st we host a Men’s Singles 35+ tournament also in Motor City and Atlantis.

To finish off the month of May we will host an U18 Boys and Girls UTR Tournament that will also take place in Motor City and Atlantis continuing with the same knock out format and best of three sets, third set super tie break.

There are also some UAE Tennis Federation coming up in the next months

For all the Green Ball players at Rackets Academy every Saturday starting April 16th there will be a Green Ball Tournament taking place in Atlantis from 4:30-7:30. Make sure you send us an email to register, the entry is FREE!

TEN-PRO Global Tournament

We have another Ten Pro Global Tournament scheduled for next October. It was great having players from all over the world at Rackets Academy for the Ten Pro Tournament the past month of January and we cannot wait to host it again next upcoming October. Whether you missed out on it in January or you loved it so much that can’t wait to play again make sure you sign up to play the one in October.

Padel Tennis

Have you tried it yet? The Fitness First in Mudon opened the first padel tennis court in Mudon Ranches for members and non-members. Make sure you download the Rackets Academy App and book your session, exclusive 10% off for all Fitness First members and for every booking enjoy complimentary access to Fitness First Mudon. This is the first of many padel courts at Mudon, there are another six courts opening very soon. If you book your court, you can take advantage of their amazing facilities, which include great locker rooms, an outdoor semi-Olympic swimming pool and a fully equipped gym.

Price per 90 min lesson – 200AED

Fitness First Mudon is also hosting a member’s tournament on the last Sunday of every month at Mudon Padel. The tournament will take place from 5:30 – 8:30pm and it is free for Fitness First members. Non-member can also participate registering with an extra charge of 50AED per tournament.

PERFORMANCE SQUAD

The Rackets Academy Performance Squad is growing and we love to see that so many players are joining and improving their game with us. If you would like to try out for the performance squad which takes place in the venues of Motor City and Atlantis, please contact Rackets Academy or coach Nuria to book an assessment and start training with our Performance Squad as soon as possible. The training consists of 90 minutes of tennis and also one hour of fitness it’s optional. The coaches put a lot of emphasis in match play and learning how to compete well to get players ready to play in tournaments. Term 3 goes from April 10th until July 9th. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you are interested.

Rackets Academy Pairs Ladies Tournament

New term means new ladies league tournament, this time with a new format.

Group stages of five pairs will be played each other during the first five weeks depending on registration. The best first and second pair of each group goes to the next round and will play knock out phases. In case of a tie in matches the pair with the most sets won in the group stage will advance to the next round, and if there’s still a tie, we will count how many games each pair won. Playing best of three sets, third set super-tie break

80 AED per person per match.

New Balls Provided Each Match

One coach will be supervising the matches at each venue.

Matches will start between 8-9am start every Thursday across the different Rackets Academy venues Motor City / Atlantis / Sofitel at least.

Travel Tour

Our coaches are preparing a package to travel to Belgium to compete at the Ten Pro Global Tournament at Kim Clijsters Academy in the end of June.

Our Elite player Aryan Nanda will be traveling to Lebanon to compete at the ITF G5 in Zouk. Best of luck Aryan!

Camps over the summer

If you want to keep playing during the summer get in contact with our coaches. We will like to have a group of players that want to travel to Europe this summer for training and playing in tournaments, so if you are interested get in contact with Rackets Academy and we will count on you!
