Elliot Le Petit

Originally from Jersey, British Isles, Elliot moved with his family at a young age to Dubai where he attended JPS Primary School for three years before moving to New Zealand in 2003.

Elliot quickly fell in love with the game of tennis and committed himself to the sport from an early age. This led him to achieving a top 10 ranking as a junior then being ranked in the top 100 adult players in NZ before receiving a tennis scholarship to the United States where he attended the University of Charleston, playing for their first team and graduating with a BSc in Business Administration.

After working alongside ITF junior players in the US and also the UK following his graduation, Elliot returned to Auckland in 2019 where he continued his passion as a full-time professional tennis coach.  He worked at a number of local clubs and schools before establishing his own company as the Head Coach at a large rackets club, where he grew the coaching programme to over 450 players and with eight coaches working in his business. Elliot’s success as a coach was recognized in 2023 when he received the ‘Coach of the Year’ award from Tennis NZ.

Elliot’s coaching philosophy revolves around helping each player strive to reach their best through reflection, goal setting and setting realistic standards that will guarantee they achieve both long term success and satisfaction within the sport. Individual standards and expectations are discussed in great detail with each player, self-belief in one’s own ability being a core component that Elliot seeks to draw out of every player he coaches. He has developed a successful coaching style that focuses on closely working alongside the players he coaches, sharing with them the energy and skills needed to play at their highest level to achieve their full potential, all the while ensuring they enjoy their tennis and make the most of their talents – whatever their level, age or previous experience.
